Senior Pastor
Pastor Paul J B Kim and Young Sook Lee
Following a successful career in business in South Korea, Pastor Paul responded to a call to plant a church in Hobart. After graduating with a Bachelor of Ministry from Alphacrucis College, Sydney, he was sent to Tasmania by Pastor Woosung Chung of the Sydney Korean Full Gospel Church, arriving in January 2005. Meetings commenced on Sunday afternoons in what is now Alphacrucis Hobart Campus then in 2009 the present church building was purchased. Pastor Paul has a vision to see a multicultural church with a congregation full of Korean, Australian and other nationalities. Young Sook is totally committed to the mission of the church, excelling in hospitality. Paul and Young Sook have two children and three grandchildren.
Associate Pastor
Pastor Ron and Marilyn Wilson
Pastor Ron and Marilyn came to Tasmania in February 1971 after graduating from what is now Alphacrucis College. From 1973 to 2004 Ron was senior pastor of Grace Christian Church. For 29 years he was the leader of Australian Christian Churches in Tasmania. As honorary associate pastor he believes that Hobart Central Church has a special mandate to be a light in the centre of our city. Marilyn works part time at City Mission, Moonah. They have five children and 14 grandchildren.
Worship Pastor
Pastor Glen and Penny Hodges
Glen and Penny Hodges are Queenslanders who love Tasmania. Glen is Deputy Head of School at the Hobart Conservatorium of Music. He has brought new impetus to the worship team. Penny is a school teacher specialising with children with special needs. They have four children and one grandchild.
Worship Leader
Hyekyung Lee (Claire)
Hyekyung Lee is a worship leader under the guidance of Glen Hodges. After majoring in Business Administration & International Trading at Myungi University in Korea, she came to Hobart as a holiday worker on November 2013. When she came to our church, she felt a strong calling to serve here and has been appointed as a deaconess, dedicating herself to our vision of a multi-cultural church. During her stay in Hobart, Hyekyung has completed a course in Aged Care at TAFE Tasmania and will continue to study Nursing there from June 2016.
Key Personnel
Richard and Rosalie Martin
Richard and Rosie have a vision for outreach, particularly among overseas students. A pastor for many years, Richard is a regular preacher in a variety of Hobart congregations. Rosie is chair of Chatter Matters Tasmania, an organisation raising awareness of the importance of literacy, language and pro-social communication. They have two sons and two grandchildren.
Silas and Latika Benjamin
Silas and Latika, teachers by training, and gifted in hospitality, make a significant contribution to Hobart Central Church in many areas. Originally from New Delhi they have made Hobart their home along with their two teenage sons.
Pastor Kevin and Michele Welch
Kevin and Michele have made a valuable contribution to the Kingdom in Hobart. Kevin and Michele very active as pioneers and leaders of Students for Christ, at UTAS . Both have pastoral teaching gifts and have worked for many years in Christian education. Michele, a qualified counsellor, works with Lifeline and in employment training. Kevin, now a pharmacist, is a respected and experienced communicator and Bible teacher. They have two sons and two grandchildren.
